Sounds like me this past Sunday. It’s a ‘good’ pain and it’s great to be out and about without mincing around ice patches! Enjoy springing into summer 🙂

Thanks Audrey. Believe it or not this used to be a coal mining area and the photo shows the old rail track or tram road that has been recovered and converted to a cycle track. Beautiful.

You know, I became very intersted in English mining after reading Fall of Giants, strangly enough.

Our valley used to have at least half a dozen that I remember, in the space of about twelve miles! Now they’re all closed and most have been recovered for leisure purposes. A lot of the rail lines have been converted to cycle tracks. Great for walking. The only problem it causes is that house purchases require a mines survey to check what lies beneath!
