Overcast grey sky.
Clouds warn of heavy rainfall.
Will we see rainbows?

Weather–Or Not

Pen y Fan 5

This was Pen y Fan and Corn Du on 3rd November, 2012. So far, this year, there has been no sign of any snow, but the mountains still look beautiful.

I have been a little quiet, this week. It’s a case of prioritising. We all have much to do and we need to make sure that we do the most important things, first. Still, when I looked at the weather, last Monday, I couldn’t help thinking that, although I had work to do, the mountains were calling. Never mind. Deadlines come and go. The mountains will be there for some time.

Here It Comes

Storm Clouds

How quickly the change.
Blue sky swamped by stormy clouds.
Here it comes, again.

How quickly things change. It may be the weather, or it may be our circumstances. But we must be prepared for such change.

When it comes to the weather, we are often ready. We view the day’s weather forecast to get an idea of what clothing to take. Or we sense changes in the weather because of our experience. We feel the sudden chill in the air, and know a storm is coming.

However, when it comes to changes in life, we are often caught off-guard. Things seem to creep up on us, unexpectedly. Yet we can be prepared for most eventualities if we are mindful of what is happening in our lives and in the lives of others

It may be that we see signs in the demeanour of those who can affect us; our partners, our children, our parents, our bosses, our friends. It may be changes in our own demeanour. It may be a news item. It may even be changes in the weather. If we are mindful of all these things, then we will seldom be caught off-guard.

Yes, there will be times when the unexpected occurs. But, if we are mindful, we will be able to cope with these unexpected events with dignity and calm.

Changes happen. It is up to us to learn to deal with them.
